Fort Worth sits in north-central Texas, about 30 miles west of Dallas. Together, the two cities represent the fourth-largest metropolitan area in the U.S. You'll find plenty of options in and around the DFW!
Feel like getting in some outdoors exercise? Head about 30 minutes southwest from Fort Worth to reach Cedar Hill State Park. Mountain bikers will be happy to find the twisty, challenging Dorba Trail made specifically for them. Three other hiking-only trails in the park provide less strenuous options. Nearly 400 tent camping sites and an RV park allow for overnight stays.
Are you looking for some waterfront fun? Lake Mineral Wells State Park, about 45 minutes west, provides easy access to its titular lake. Post up on the picnic tables for a lakeside meal with friends. Free Wi-Fi is available, excellent for working from the road.
If you're coming in the summer, look out for oppressively hot, humid weather. Expect highs hovering around 100 degrees for much of June to August. Early spring is the best time to go. Temperatures from March to May range from high 60s to mid-80s. That said, take note that May can be surprisingly rainy.

Trickle Creek Ranch was once a dairy, we purchased it 15 years ago and it has become a hobby ranch. We are also collector's of vintage RV's and currently have various vintage trailers and motorhomes on the property. There are horses and longhorn cattle that roam the 12 acres. We have added RV spaces to share the ranch experience with others. Be sure to visit the hey shed where you can visit with animals up close and feed them. Eagle Mountain Lake is only 2 miles away and there is plenty of shopping and restaurants within 10 minutes. We do have some full time residents as well.

Welcome to the Airstream on Arison Farm. While you enjoy your farm stay, watch the chickens and the goats forage on our eight-acre property just five minutes from Granbury’s historic square, and two miles from the closest boat ramp. Soak in the water trough right off the porch, or lounge by the fire pit. Use our farm as home base while you explore the local wineries, breweries, restaurants, antique and junk shops and so much more that Granbury has to offer. We even offer WiFi and a smart TV.
Access to the Airstream will be in a field where we keep our goats, chickens, turkeys, and two LARGE, but FRIENDLY livestock guardian dogs.
Feel welcome to explore our front field, located between our driveway/parking area and the road. We tend to leave grass here high at some times of the year for the wild flowers, but there are paths mowed around and through it. This is where our big green houses (high tunnels) are. The huge tree in the middle is an old native pecan.

Weekend Trip to Pecans on the Paluxy - River Views
We rented site 3 while friends rented site 2 and 4, and we had SO much space! Site 3 was excellent - there is plenty of shade, parking, and hangout space. ?Note: there is no water in the river in drought, but our kids loved playing in the dry riverbed beneath our site! We took our small overlanding RV and there was plenty of space for it (though you'll do a small bit of RV leveling). We will be back!

4 nights at El Arboles
This is a fantastic, quiet spot for anyone looking for an RV stay. David and Anthony are excellent communicators, and the property is very well maintained. The sites feature perfectly level gravel pads with full hookups—plus a built-in reverse osmosis system for clean drinking water, which is a rare and welcome perk.
It’s also an easy 10-minute drive into downtown Cleburne. The setup is relatively new; sites are labeled 1 through 4, though only 1 and 4 are currently open while improvements continue. Site 1 has the best shade. If you want a peaceful, high-value retreat, this is truly a gem in the trees.
Important tip for anyone in Site 1: Do NOT switch off the 20-amp breaker at the pedestal! As RVers, it’s second nature to flip unused breakers off, but because there is no central office, that specific breaker powers the internet for the entire property. Leave it switched on so everyone stays connected!

Weekend Trip to Pecans on the Paluxy - River Views
Had a sweaty stay in record heat with a mostly dry riverbed AND would definitely come again. Beautiful stretch of private river with just enough privacy to feel intimate with the family, but not enough seclusion to scare our city kids. I was very impressed with how family ready the camp was. We brought a baby and 3 year and teenager that enjoyed the sand clay and water.

Our first time camping at this campground, and we absolutely loved it! The photos don't do the scenery justice—it was even more beautiful in person.
My wife and I had an amazing, peaceful getaway. We enjoyed kayaking on the river, relaxing by the campsite, and taking in the quiet nights under the stars. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and very helpful throughout our stay.
We'll definitely be coming back and hope to reserve the same campsite again when it's available. Highly recommend this campground to anyone looking for a relaxing outdoor experience!- Oscar & Lupita
